Every NFL journey is a unique story, from first-round locks to undrafted free agents fighting for a roster spot. For wide receiver prospect Jayleen Record, that story took a dramatic and public turn this week as he literally took his case to the street.

The Dallas native and former SMU Mustang was spotted camped outside the Dallas Cowboys' headquarters at The Star in Frisco. In a scene of pure determination, Record wore his cleats around his neck and held a handmade sign displaying his impressive athletic testing numbers, ready for a tryout at a moment's notice.

His poster board, a blend of raw data and raw emotion, listed a 40-yard dash time, 23 reps on the bench press, a 41-inch vertical leap, and a 10-foot-7-inch broad jump. At the bottom, a heartfelt plea in two marker colors read: "IM READY TO PROVE MYSELF AGAIN!! DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME DURING THE DRAFT! 1SHOT!!"

Record's numbers tell a story of significant, untapped athletic potential. Had he been invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, his bench press would have ranked third among all wide receivers, while his vertical and broad jumps would have placed him firmly in the top tier. His path, however, hasn't been straightforward. After limited action at SMU, he transferred to Weber State, where he steadily improved his production over three seasons.

Now, as a draft-day longshot, Record is bypassing traditional channels and appealing directly to the team he grew up watching. It's a bold, all-in move that embodies the underdog spirit—the kind of relentless hustle and belief that defines so many great football careers. Whether it earns him a coveted tryout remains to be seen, but his unwavering commitment to getting that one shot is impossible to ignore.
