Logansport High School has a new All-American on its hands—and this one earned the title through grit, iron, and determination. Senior Adrienne Scott has been named a Kevin Vanderbush All-American Award winner by the National High School Strength Coaches Association (NNHSCA), a prestigious national honor that recognizes the complete athlete.

This isn't just any award. Named after the legendary Kevin Vanderbush—often called the godfather of high school strength and conditioning coaching—the award celebrates seniors who excel both in the weight room and in life. Scott is one of only eight girls from Indiana and just 63 nationwide to receive the honor this year.

To qualify, Scott had to meet impressive benchmarks: a 150-pound power clean, 250-pound back squat, 150-pound bench press, and a 280-pound trap bar deadlift. She also posted a 4.68-second pro agility time and a 24.7-inch vertical jump. But the criteria didn't stop at raw numbers. Her 3.9 GPA, leadership roles, team and individual honors, and letters of recommendation from coaches and the strength staff all factored into the selection.

Standing just 5-foot-2 and weighing 125 pounds, Scott is pound-for-pound the strongest girl at Logansport—a testament to her dedication since she first started lifting in eighth grade. "I didn't really take it serious until high school," Scott said. "Price has a great program. He's really encouraging. He wants to make you better."

Logansport strength coach Nick Price nominated Scott for the award, calling it a tremendous honor to have her name attached to Vanderbush's legacy. "Strict criteria goes into the award," Price noted. "It's a great honor."

A three-sport standout, Scott excels in softball, volleyball, and gymnastics. This spring, she's the starting center fielder for the Class 3A No. 2-ranked Logansport softball team. And she's swinging with newfound power—she recently crushed the first home run of her career over the fence against Western's Lucy George.

Scott credits her training for the boost. "Lifting just makes a huge improvement when you're an athlete," she said, noting that several teammates also take weights classes or lift with the football program. With that kind of culture, Logansport's future looks strong—literally and figuratively.
