Crystal Reyna-Garcia and Lucrezia Romero each scored for the Golden Eagles (9-8 overall, 2-6 conference). Sara Grey and Genesis Argueta each had an assist. Sadie Nguyen made two saves in goal.
HIGH POINT — Wesleyan Christian outlasted Calvary Day 1-1 (5-4 in PKs) in PTAC girls soccer Monday at Wesleyan’s Sanford Field.
Ava Peele scored off an assist by Cait Borden in the fourth minute for the Trojans (10-6 overall, 7-1 conference), who led until the 75th minute — peppering the goal with scoring chances but unable to pull away.
Kyla Denton, Emma Rutledge, Ava Peele, Izzy Jordan and Lillian Johnson scored in penalty kicks for Wesleyan, which survived the fifth round with a shot off the post following a miss.
McKinlee Graver, who shared time in goal with Sara Kate Carr in regulation, made a diving save to her left in the sixth round to seal the win, which kept the Trojans in a tie with Forsyth Country Day atop the conference standings.
KERNERSVILLE — Bishop McGuinness tied Greensboro Day 2-2 in nonconference girls soccer Monday at Bishop.
Laney Heafner scored off an assist from Kristen Dixon Velez for the Villains (9-4-2). MacKenna Langdon and Heather Hamilton each made two saves in goal.
THOMASVILLE — Trinity won 6-3 against Thomasville in Central Carolina 3A Conference girls soccer Monday at Thomasville. Trinity improved to 11-1-4 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference, while Thomasville moved to 3-14-1 and 0-8.
TYRO — Wheatmore defeated West Davidson 2-0 in Central Carolina 3A Conference girls soccer Monday at West Davidson.
Tatum Wagner and Kayla Rosenbaum each scored for the Warriors (11-5 overall, 8-0 conference). Kinsley Davis made four saves in goal.
WINSTON-SALEM — Oak Grove shut out Atkins 7-0 in Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference girls soccer Monday at Atkins.
Katherine Lockamy scored three goals for the Grizzlies (13-3-2 overall, 6-1 conference). Victoria Lockamy had two goals and two assists, while Piper Aldridge and Trista Warren each had one goal. Warren and Annika Borgen each chipped in an assist.
HIGH POINT — Third-seeded Southwest Guilford rolled past sixth-seeded Smith 19-0 in six innings Monday at Southwest in the first round of the Metro 6A/7A Conference baseball tournament.
Camden Welch and Ryan Maness each had two hits and three RBIs for the Cowboys (15-9), who advanced to face second-seeded Ragsdale in the semifinals Tuesday. Kaden Morgan added a hit and three RBIs.
Maness got the pitching win, striking out three. He and Eli Flannagan combined to not allow a hit.
THOMASVILLE — Fourth-seeded East Davidson defeated fifth-seeded Thomasville 16-2 in five innings Monday at East in the first round of the Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball tournament.
The Golden Eagles, who advanced to Tuesday’s semifinal at top-seeded Trinity, improved to 10-13 while the Bulldogs dipped to 6-17. The winners of Tuesday’s semifinals will meet Wednesday at Finch Field.
TYRO — Sixth-seeded Wheatmore lost 11-10 against third-seeded West Davidson on Monday at West Davidson in the opening round of the Central Carolina 3A Conference baseball tournament.
Nate Oxendine had two hits and two RBIs for the Warriors (2-19). Greyson Atkinson and Hunter Goddard, who tripled, each had two hits. Christian Tuttle, Shannon McCauley and Gavin McPherson each had a hit and an RBI.
