Texas A&M has officially signed LMU transfer forward Jalen Shelley, who brings more playmaking ability and size to the 2026 front court.

Texas A&M's basketball program is making serious moves in the transfer portal, and the latest addition is turning heads across the SEC. On Thursday, LMU transfer forward Jalen Shelley officially signed with the Aggies, bringing a dynamic blend of size and playmaking to a rapidly improving frontcourt.

Shelley's arrival is the latest piece in what's shaping up to be one of the nation's top transfer portal classes. The Aggies have already secured six commitments, headlined by former Kansas State sharpshooter PJ Haggerty, who averaged nearly 24 points per game last season and is projected as a 2027 NBA draft pick. With Haggerty leading the scoring charge and Shelley adding versatility on the wing, Texas A&M is building a roster that can compete at the highest level.

Head coach Bucky McMillan, now in his second season, has nearly completed a roster overhaul. The backcourt is loaded with elite talent and depth, including former NBA G-League guard Bryson Warren and LSU transfer guard Jalen Reece. The frontcourt is coming together nicely, with returning forwards Mackenzie Mgbako, Zach Clemence, and Jamie Vinson now joined by Shelley.

Standing as a versatile wing, Shelley brings substantial size and the ability to cut inside and make plays near the rim. His 13.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game last season, along with four double-doubles and four 20-point performances, show his potential. If his three-point shooting percentage (28%) improves, Shelley could become one of the SEC's most unstoppable 3-and-D players.

The Aggies still need at least one more veteran forward to add depth to an already taller roster that fits McMillan's fast-paced system. But the blueprint is clear: last season's NCAA Tournament second-round run, built entirely from transfer portal talent, proves this approach works. With a more talented roster now in place, Texas A&M is poised to make some serious noise in 2027.

Welcome to Aggieland, Jalen Shelley!
