Liverpool are casting a wide net ahead of the summer transfer window as they look to rebuild after a disappointing 2025-26 season. While the Reds are on track to secure Champions League football, there's an underlying unease among the fanbase that won't go away.

One area needing reinforcement is the midfield. Despite boasting world-class talent, several key players have underperformed—with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch arguably struggling the most. On the brighter side, Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones have impressed, but with Jones likely heading for the exit this summer, change is clearly on the horizon.

Among the names linked with a move to Anfield is Assan Ouédraogo, the 18-year-old wonderkid valued at £34.5 million. However, fresh reports from German outlet Bild have poured cold water on those rumors.

"RB Leipzig have absolutely no interest in letting Ouédraogo leave," the report states. "The top talent is expected to take the next steps with the club next season—ideally in the Champions League. His contract, which runs until 2029, does not contain a release clause."

Interestingly, the report adds that Leipzig and Liverpool maintain a good relationship, which could prove useful for future dealings. For now, though, the young midfielder appears firmly off the table, leaving Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes to explore other options as they reshape the squad for the challenges ahead.
