Liverpool fans, it's time to add another name to your summer transfer watchlist: Givairo Read. The Feyenoord right-back has been on the Reds' radar before, and with Bayern Munich also circling, his future is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing defensive storylines in European football.

Now, a fresh update from Germany has thrown a new twist into the mix. Christian Falk of CF Bayern Insider has dismissed claims that Bayern view Benfica's Tomas Araujo as a fallback option if they miss out on Read. "It is NOT TRUE," Falk wrote, clarifying that Bayern's current defensive depth—featuring Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, Kim Min-jae, Hiroki Ito, and Josip Stanišić—means they're not scrambling for a Plan B.

However, Falk added an important caveat: "Ito and Min-jae are two players who could be sold if there is a good offer. I can imagine there will be talks after that to determine if there will be some exits. But at the moment, no one has been sold, so they'll have to wait."

This suggests Bayern's defensive moves may depend on outgoings rather than a direct pivot from Read to another target. For Liverpool, that could be a crucial opening—especially if they decide to test Feyenoord's resolve.

Falk has previously hinted at the financial muscle Premier League clubs can flex, saying: "Of course, you never know which clubs will rear their heads from the Premier League and offer, from a German perspective, some crazy prices." That comment feels tailor-made for Liverpool, a club that knows how to compete in the transfer market when the right target emerges.

And the right target might just be Givairo Read. The 19-year-old has already shown his attacking flair with one goal and three assists in 15 Eredivisie appearances this season. But his 60% duel success rate (via Sofascore) suggests there's more to his game than just forward thrust—he's a well-rounded defender in the making.

Interestingly, Read has already dropped a hint about his preferences, reportedly saying: "Liverpool, f..."—a tantalizing tease that suggests Anfield might be his dream destination. With Arne Slot potentially looking for another right-sided option, this could be a story that heats up quickly as the summer window approaches.
