Arne Slot has some serious making up to do with Liverpool's faithful next season. The Dutch manager's first campaign at Anfield has fallen well short of expectations, with the Reds failing to add any silverware to their trophy cabinet. His tactics and decision-making have been questioned, and most of his signings haven't quite hit the mark. But all hope isn't lost—especially if the club can pull off one key transfer this summer.

Much like Alexander Isak was last year, Anthony Gordon has become one of the most talked-about names linked with a move to Liverpool over the past few windows. The English winger brings exactly what the Reds are missing in attack: blistering pace and incredible versatility. While many expected Isak to light up the Premier League this season, the Sweden international has managed just four goals—a far cry from his explosive form last term.

But here's where it gets interesting. According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle have set a price tag of around £69 million for Gordon. "There have already been club-to-club talks between FC Bayern and Newcastle regarding Anthony Gordon," Plettenberg reported. "Newcastle's initial demands were up to €90m. Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool also informed. Realistically, the fee is expected to be around €75-85m including bonuses. Bayern will not pay that. That is why talks with other candidates are also ongoing."

If Liverpool can get this deal done, it could unlock the best version of Isak. The duo were a driving force behind Newcastle's Champions League qualification last season, with Gordon earning praise as a "superb" striker partner. Their playing styles complement each other perfectly—Gordon's direct running and creativity feeding Isak's clinical finishing. Together, they were unstoppable. And if Gordon dons the famous red shirt, that same chemistry could be reignited at Anfield, giving Slot the attacking spark he desperately needs.
