The Longhorns are growing their connections to players from the Eastern European country.

The Texas Longhorns are making waves on the international recruiting scene, and it's clear they have a special connection to Lithuania. After securing the return of rising junior center Matas Vokietaitis in a major offseason win, head coach Sean Miller and his staff have added another promising talent from the Baltic nation: guard Mantas Laurencikas.

Laurencikas, a 6'2", 185-pound point guard, officially committed to Texas on Friday, as reported by Gersh Sports to DraftExpress. The 19-year-old brings a wealth of international experience, having represented Lithuania at the FIBA level for four consecutive summers. Most recently, he helped the U20 national team capture a silver medal at the 2025 FIBA U20 EuroBasket in Greece.

His basketball journey is a story of steady growth. Laurencikas spent four seasons developing within the famed Zalgiris system in Lithuania, eventually earning a spot on the top team during the 2024-25 season. He then took his talents to France, playing for Espoirs Monaco before earning a call-up to AS Monaco Basket in the country's top-tier league.

During the 2025-26 season, Laurencikas put up impressive numbers: 13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game over 27.2 minutes. He shot 45.4 percent from the floor and a solid 77.5 percent from the free-throw line, showing he can be a reliable two-way contributor.

With four years of eligibility remaining, Laurencikas has the upside to develop into a key player for the Longhorns. However, as with any international prospect, there are questions about his immediate fit. His shooting from beyond the arc remains a work in progress—at last summer's EuroBasket, he missed all four of his three-point attempts over seven games.

When comparing him to incoming high school signee Joe Sterling, who Miller has described as a developmental prospect with a strong shooting touch, Laurencikas may need time to adjust to the college game. But where he does shine is in his playmaking and basketball IQ, traits that could make him a valuable floor general for Texas as he gains experience.

The Longhorns are clearly building a pipeline to Eastern Europe, and Laurencikas is the latest piece in that exciting puzzle. For fans looking to rep the next wave of Texas basketball, this is a name to watch.
