The Evansville Thunderbolts have done it again—back-to-back President's Cup champions, a feat that only three other teams in SPHL history have achieved. And they did it the hard way: down 2-0 in the finals against the league's top team, which finished nine points ahead of the field. No team had ever climbed out of that hole in finals history. But the Thunderbolts never wavered.

"We had a quote up in our room these last three games: 'We know what they have, we know we have more,'" said right winger Jordan Simoneau. "After those first two games, there was never a doubt."

That belief, forged over years of shared battles, was the difference. Captain Matthew Hobbs, a cornerstone of the 2025 championship squad, praised his teammates' collective leadership. "Anyone here could wear a letter," he said. "It makes my job a lot easier having leaders around me."

Head coach Jeff Bes credited the team's laser focus on the small moments. "We wanted to win the first five minutes on Wednesday, then carry on and win the next five. That mindset was what was really successful for us."

Now, with the trophy in hand, the celebration begins. "We're going to go in and probably drink a beer," Bes said with a laugh. "We're going to celebrate, enjoy this, and savor it."
