Due to expected inclement weather in Southwest Louisiana on Thursday and Friday, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association has decided to postpone its softball championships for a day.
Instead of the 40-team field beginning play Friday with the championships Saturday, the semifinals will be played Saturday with the title tilts on Sunday.
Many of the teams have opted to postpone their trips to Sulphur’s Frasch Fields until Friday morning, but Calvary Baptist and Logansport are among the teams simply adding a day to their travel plans.

We just added a night into our stay,” Logansport coach Kyle Creech said. “We are going to go down and watch our baseball team play in Vinton Thursday.”
It will cost Calvary at least an additional $1,500 in a bus fee to leave Thursday.
“But the girls are already mentally ready to be down there, so we might as well go,” Lady Cavaliers assistant coach Greg Frazier said.
North DeSoto, D’Arbonne Woods and Glenbrook will wait until Friday to make the trip south.
“We have been monitoring the weather and already booked an extra day down there,” Timberwolves coach David DeMoss said.
Non-Select Division II top-seeded North DeSoto coach Tim Whitman said his team will keep the same schedule.
“A couple of changes with the week’s practices is all,” Whitman said. “The hotels accommodated us.”
