Eight years, seven Bundesliga titles, and a legacy that goes far beyond trophies. As Leon Goretzka prepares to leave FC Bayern at the end of the season, he sat down with the club's members' magazine, '51', to reflect on the moments that defined his career—and the issues that matter most to him off the pitch.

Goretzka on his final month at Bayern: "I wanted to experience it, but I'm still too focused. I'm in the zone—I want to win, I want success. There's no time to soak it all in yet. But I think that's the right approach; it's the only way I'll truly enjoy it when it's over."

Looking back at his first day at Säbener Straße in 2018: "We had just come off a disastrous World Cup, but I arrived full of anticipation. I already knew many of the guys from the national team, but I was still a bit nervous—more eager than anything to finally get started."

On exceeding expectations: "At my first press conference, someone asked about my ambitions. I said I saw myself in the starting lineup soon. There were a few grins in the room, but I managed it quickly. Even I didn't think I'd stay this long or be this successful."

He also recalled a famous bet: "Mario Basler and Peter Neururer made a wager on 'Doppelpass.' Basler said I wouldn't even play five games for Bayern. It was a few more than that. I wonder if Peter ever got his crate of beer."

From a promising 23-year-old to a midfield mainstay, Goretzka's journey at Bayern has been defined by resilience, ambition, and a commitment to standing up for what he believes in—both on and off the pitch. As he prepares for his next chapter, his legacy in Munich is already secure.
