Leeds United have taken a giant stride towards securing their Premier League status for another season, powering to a commanding 3-1 victory over an already-relegated Burnley side on Friday night. The win at Elland Road was a massive statement from Daniel Farke's men, lifting them nine points clear of the drop zone with just four games left for their relegation rivals.

The Whites came flying out of the gates, driven by the urgency of their survival battle. Anton Stach set the tone early, drilling a low shot past a slow-reacting Martin Dubravka in the eighth minute to give Leeds the perfect start. From there, the home side dominated proceedings, but had to wait until after the break to truly put the game to bed.

A stunning four-minute burst early in the second half sealed the points in style. First, Noah Okafor finished off a brilliant team move, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin's clever backheel setting up Jayden Bogle before the Swiss forward applied the finishing touch. Okafor has been in red-hot form, netting six goals in his last seven league appearances to help steer Leeds clear of danger.

Not to be outdone, Calvert-Lewin got on the scoresheet himself moments later, prodding home his 13th goal of the season from close range after Dubravka could only parry Ao Tanaka's powerful strike. The England striker's goals have been crucial in keeping his side afloat during the tougher stretches of the campaign.

This result marks an impressive first season back in the top flight for Leeds, who now sit 14th in the table. Alongside Sunderland, they are bucking the trend of promoted sides falling straight back to the Championship. The contrast with Burnley could not be starker—the Clarets, who pushed Leeds all the way for the Championship title last season, have been relegated for the third time in as many Premier League campaigns.

Burnley's struggles continued off the pitch too, having parted ways with manager Scott Parker on Thursday despite his remarkable record of winning promotion from the Championship with three different clubs. In interim charge, Mike Jackson saw his side salvage some pride when Loum Tchaouna blasted in a late consolation, but it was far too little, too late.

For Leeds, the focus now shifts to finishing the season strongly and building momentum for what promises to be an exciting future back in the Premier League. After the heartbreak of their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea last weekend, this was the perfect response from a team that refused to let their season fizzle out.
