Manchester United are gearing up for a major summer shake-up, and their return to the Champions League next season is set to give them a significant financial boost. With a bigger transfer war chest at their disposal, the Red Devils are plotting a squad overhaul that focuses on strengthening the midfield, adding a dynamic winger, and building defensive depth. If the recruitment team plays their cards right, United could make a serious impact in Europe's elite competition next term.

But while United are riding high on optimism, another European powerhouse is facing a very different reality. AC Milan, fresh off a season without Champions League football, are scrambling to balance the books. And that could spell opportunity for Old Trafford.

According to Italian journalist Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, Milan are under pressure to sell a star player before the end of June to ease their financial woes. The Serie A giants are also planning a major squad rebuild and have already put several out-of-favour players on the market. However, if they can't shift those unwanted names, they may be forced to consider offers for their highest earners—including goalkeeper Mike Maignan, electric winger Rafael Leao, and USMNT star Christian Pulisic.

Interestingly, both Leao and Pulisic are reportedly on Manchester United's radar. Leao, a 6'2" Portuguese speedster with explosive pace and dazzling dribbling skills, fits the profile that United's new Ineos-led recruitment team is known to admire. Since joining Milan in 2019, he's been a cornerstone of their attack and has proven his quality across Portugal and France. With reports suggesting Milan would be open to letting him go for around £43 million, he's shaping up to be a tempting target for Europe's top clubs.

Pulisic, meanwhile, has also impressed at Milan, showing flashes of the talent that made him a star at Chelsea. However, given his struggles with consistency and athleticism in the Premier League, United might be wise to think twice before pursuing a reunion with the American international.

As the summer transfer window heats up, all eyes will be on whether United can capitalize on Milan's financial distress to land a game-changing winger—and whether Leao or Pulisic will be the one to make the move.
