In the world of high school football, few stories capture the underdog spirit quite like Caiden Bellard's rise. Just a year ago, the Lafayette Christian Academy running back was flying under the radar, a talented athlete without a single college offer to his name. Fast forward to today, and he's become the hottest 2028 prospect in Louisiana—a testament to what happens when raw talent meets relentless determination.
"All of it's a blessing, so I thank God for every second and every opportunity I get," Bellard said, reflecting on his breakout sophomore season. "The spring went really well, and our team feels like it's going to be a special season for us."
Standing at 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, Bellard first made his mark as a freshman, learning the ropes behind LCA alum Jalen Noel. In 12 games, he rushed for 421 yards on 58 carries, averaging over seven yards per carry—a glimpse of the explosiveness to come. When the backfield became his in 2025, he didn't just step up; he took over. Bellard finished the season with 1,532 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns, adding 103 receiving yards and two scores on nine catches. His workhorse mentality powered the Knights to an impressive 11-2 record.
With LCA graduating a bulk of its seniors, the spotlight is now firmly on Bellard. And he's ready to embrace it. "LCA always did have dogs," he said. "They always did have a top dog every season, so I look at it like I'm that guy. I'm the next guy up. I got to step in. With all the success I'm having right now, I can't let that fool me. I gotta keep working. I gotta be the best version of myself to have an excellent junior season."
This offseason, Bellard has been putting in the work, attending 7v7 camps with 4th Quarter Mentality and training with former NFL running back Kevin Faulk, a Louisiana native. The results speak for themselves: 26 Division I offers from Power 4 and Group of 5 programs. As the 2026 season approaches, Bellard isn't just chasing yards—he's chasing greatness, one carry at a time.
