The Derby della Capitale just got a whole lot more dramatic. Lazio will be without both of their first-choice goalkeepers for Sunday's massive clash against rivals Roma, meaning an unexpected Serie A debutant will be guarding the net.

Regular starter Ivan Provedel has been sidelined since undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery nine rounds ago. His backup, Christos Mandas, was loaned to Bournemouth in January with an option to buy, leaving the door open for 21-year-old Edoardo Motta to step up after joining from Serie C side Reggiana.

But in a cruel twist of fate, Motta has now picked up a muscular injury and won't be available for the weekend's showdown. That leaves 24-year-old Alessio Furlanetto as the last man standing.

Furlanetto has been with Lazio for a decade, joining their youth setup as a teenager back in 2016. Despite his long tenure, he's never made a competitive appearance for the senior team. His only taste of professional football came during loan spells in Serie C with Renate in 2022-23 and Fermana in 2023-24.
