The Tennessee Lady Vols' challenging season, which ended on an eight-game losing streak and a first-round NCAA Tournament exit, has transitioned into a turbulent offseason. The program's roster rebuild hit a significant milestone Monday as the last player with remaining eligibility, Jaida Civil, announced her departure via the transfer portal.

Civil, a member of coach Kim Caldwell's top-ranked 2025 recruiting class, expressed gratitude for her time in Knoxville on social media but stated that after deep reflection, she would be seeking a new opportunity. Her decision marks a complete turnover of the eligible roster, as she joins four other Lady Vols—Talaysia Cooper, Kaniya Boyd, Alyssa Latham, and Lauren Hurst—who entered the portal when it opened.

Further compounding the roster uncertainty, Mia and Mya Pauldo announced their intent to transfer last week, though their names were not officially in the portal as of Monday. The status of Deniya Prawl also remains unclear following a cryptic social media post.

This mass exodus follows a difficult 16-14 campaign for Caldwell in her second season. The eight consecutive losses were a program first in the NCAA era, tying the school record for most losses in a season. The upheaval extends beyond the players, as Caldwell has also seen changes to her coaching staff, including an assistant leaving for LSU and later UCF, and the firing of another assistant. She has since moved to bolster her staff by hiring former Florida State associate head coach Bill Ferrara, known for his offensive expertise.

For a proud program like Tennessee, known for its legacy and iconic orange uniforms, this represents a profound reset. Coach Caldwell now faces the immense task of building an entirely new roster from the ground up, a challenge that will define the Lady Vols' trajectory in the seasons to come.
