An NBA media personality has an interesting trade suggestion for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a pivotal moment in their Western Conference Semifinals matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and early signs aren't promising. After dropping Game 1 by 18 points and managing just 90 points total, the purple and gold are already on the back foot in this series.

While the Lakers can't make any roster changes mid-series, ESPN's Michael Wilbon has floated an intriguing trade scenario that could shake things up this summer—one that would see Los Angeles part ways with Luka Dončić's $54 million star teammate, Austin Reaves.

"Not when I look at Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Minnesota," Wilbon said Thursday. "They're all ahead. Denver's got to make moves, too. So you're going against teams that are already ahead of you."

The veteran analyst zeroed in on Reaves as a potential trade chip: "You mention Reaves, he is an interesting piece and situation. There are some places—Reaves could open a lot of places. He is a really good player. Does he have to be with Luka and LeBron? I don't know, they've got some needs on that team."

Wilbon didn't mince words about the possibility: "You think that Austin Reaves can't get traded? You think that Jaylen Brown can't get traded? Any of them can be traded. I think that Denver and the Lakers are two teams I am looking at that have to improve their teams."

On paper, Reaves has been a regular-season standout—averaging 23.3 points per game this season and 20.2 last year. The 27-year-old guard's slick handles, crafty improvisation, and knack for drawing contact in the paint have made him a fan favorite and a legitimate scoring threat.

But the postseason is a different beast. Last year's playoffs exposed cracks in Reaves' game: he averaged just 15.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.0 rebounds while shooting a dismal 30.4% from the field and 11.8% from beyond the arc. Those struggles, combined with the Lakers' glaring frontcourt hole after trading Anthony Davis, have left the team vulnerable—and the Minnesota Timberwolves have already capitalized.

For Lakers fans, the question isn't just about this series—it's about whether the team can build a championship roster around Dončić and LeBron James. Moving Reaves could be the bold step that fills their biggest need. But it could also mean saying goodbye to a player who's been a bright spot in the regular season. Either way, this summer promises to be a defining one in Los Angeles.
