Philadelphia Phillies' Kyle Schwarber is one of just eight players in MLB history to accomplish an incredible home run feat.

Kyle Schwarber is making history—and he's doing it in dramatic fashion.

The Philadelphia Phillies' designated hitter launched his 20th home run of the season during an unforgettable 11-9 comeback victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Trailing by six runs at one point, the Phillies roared back in extra innings, with Schwarber's two-run blast in the top of the seventh cutting the deficit to three and shifting the game's momentum entirely.

That home run wasn't just another long ball—it was Schwarber's ninth in the last eight games. And with the calendar still reading mid-April, he's already reached the 20-homer mark through just 45 games. That puts him on pace for 73 home runs over a full 162-game season, tying Barry Bonds' legendary single-season record set in 2001.

Even more impressive? Schwarber now joins an elite group of just eight players in MLB history to hit 20 home runs in a team's first 45 games. The names on that list read like a Hall of Fame roll call: Cy Williams, Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Luis Gonzalez, and Albert Pujols. Schwarber is now standing shoulder-to-shoulder with baseball royalty.

After the game, Phillies manager Don Mattingly praised Schwarber's approach at the plate. "Schwarber is one of those guys that, you think, if you make pitches, you're going to get him out, and if you make mistakes, he makes you pay," Mattingly said. "So it's like, you feel like you can go after him a little bit if you make the right pitch. But he makes you pay when you make mistakes."

For Phillies fans—and baseball fans in general—watching Schwarber's torrid pace is a reminder that we might be witnessing something special. Whether he keeps up this historic pace or not, one thing is clear: when Schwarber steps into the batter's box, every swing has the potential to change the game.
