Manchester United's search for attacking reinforcements has reportedly led them to a rising star in Belgium. The Red Devils are said to be eyeing KRC Genk's teenage sensation, Konstantinos Karetsas, as a potential solution for the right wing.
While United have been heavily linked with left-wing targets, the right flank presents its own puzzle. Although Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo have featured there, Mbeumo often looks more potent through the middle, leaving room for a specialist. According to reports, United see the 18-year-old Karetsas as the perfect project player to support and compete with Diallo for the future.
The Greek international, born in Belgium, is enjoying a phenomenal breakout season. Already a starter for Genk, he has tallied a remarkable 18 assists alongside three goals in 45 appearances across all competitions. His creative vision and link-up play have drawn comparisons to Manchester City's Bernardo Silva, earning him the fitting nickname "the assist king."
Securing his signature, however, won't be straightforward. With a contract until 2029, Genk are in a strong position and are said to be demanding a fee in the region of €45 million to even begin negotiations. The report suggests United have the financial muscle to pursue the deal regardless of their Champions League status, but they face significant competition.
Karetsas has previously attracted interest from European giants like Real Madrid, but a move to the Premier League currently seems most likely. Chelsea and Manchester City are also monitoring the talented winger, setting the stage for a potential summer bidding war for one of Europe's most exciting young creators.
