ATLANTA — The New York Knicks knew exactly what was at stake. The Atlanta Hawks were fighting for their playoff lives, desperate to force a Game 7 on home court. But the Knicks had other plans — and they delivered a performance for the ages.

In what can only be described as a historic display of sheer dominance, the Knicks crushed the Hawks 140-89 in Thursday night's Game 6 at State Farm Arena, clinching the first-round series in emphatic fashion. From the opening tip, New York came out swinging — and they never let up.

The first quarter alone told the story: a staggering 40-15 lead that left the Hawks gasping for air. By halftime, the Knicks had built a 47-point advantage, the largest halftime lead in NBA playoff history. At one point, the lead ballooned to 61 points before both teams emptied their benches. If Atlanta had any hopes of forcing a winner-take-all Game 7 at Madison Square Garden, those dreams were crushed within minutes.

OG Anunoby led the charge with a brilliant 29-point performance on 11-of-14 shooting, adding seven rebounds to his stat line. Mikal Bridges bounced back in a big way, pouring in 24 points on an efficient 10-of-12 from the field. And Karl-Anthony Towns notched his second triple-double of the series, contributing 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists — a testament to the Knicks' balanced attack.

"The toughest game to win is the one that ends someone's season," Towns had said before the game. "We've got to be super disciplined, we've got to execute at the highest level that we have in this series."

The Knicks did exactly that, dominating in virtually every phase of the game. They turned every turnover, block, and long rebound into fastbreak opportunities, running the Hawks off the floor. Midway through the first quarter, a Towns rejection on Dyson Daniels quickly turned into a Bridges basket on the other end. On the next possession, Anunoby stripped Nickeil Alexander-Walker and found Josh Hart for a breakaway layup, pushing the lead to 21-11.

Anunoby scored 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting in that tone-setting first quarter, fueling a 14-0 run that put the game out of reach early. The Knicks shot an incredible 18-of-26 in the opening period, much to the delight of a rowdy contingent of New York fans who made their presence felt as the game got increasingly lopsided.

And it didn't stop there. The Knicks opened the second quarter with a 22-4 run, leaving no doubt about who was the better team in this series. For Knicks fans, this was more than just a win — it was a statement. And for anyone watching, it was a reminder of what happens when a team plays with relentless energy, discipline, and a collective will to win.
