In a tough break for Sean Strickland, the UFC 328 main event winner is facing an extended layoff after revealing the full extent of his shoulder injury. The former middleweight champion took to social media to share his diagnosis: a Type 2 AC separation, an extended Type V SLAP tear, and partial rotator cuff tearing with tendinosis. "Gonna have to walk this one off," Strickland wrote, downplaying the severity of what is actually a significant injury.

To put it in context, an AC separation involves a dislocation where the collarbone meets the shoulder blade, while a Type V SLAP tear is a more severe detachment of the labrum and biceps tendon. Arthroscopic surgery is often required, with a typical recovery window of six months. That's a long road back for "Tarzan," who just pulled off a controversial split decision victory over Khamzat Chimaev in Newark last weekend.

Speaking of Chimaev, this news puts a major damper on his immediate plans. Despite initially teasing a move to light heavyweight, "Borz" has made it clear he's "obsessed" with running it back against Strickland. "The rematch with Sean Strickland is the only fight that Khamzat wants," his team told ESPN. "That's the only fight he will accept right now." With Strickland sidelined for the foreseeable future, that rematch is officially on hold.

But Chimaev won't be twiddling his thumbs. He's set to make his Real American Freestyle (RAF) debut next month against professional agitator Dillon Danis. It's a chance for the ex-champ to regain some of his "lost aura" with a win over the former Bellator MMA welterweight. For now, fans will have to wait a little longer to see if these two warriors can settle the score inside the Octagon.
