Anfield's famous European nights are built on drama and defiance, but this was a subdued affair as Liverpool's Champions League journey ended with a whimper against Paris Saint-Germain. Despite a promising start that saw the teams deadlocked at halftime, the Reds ultimately fell to a 2-0 defeat on the night, sealing a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate exit.

The deadlock was broken in the 72nd minute by Ousmane Dembélé, who doubled his tally deep into injury time to compound a frustrating evening for Arne Slot's side. The performance lacked its usual cutting edge, leaving fans and players alike to reflect on what might have been.

In a match where few in red truly shone, individual performances were a mixed bag. Here’s a closer look at how the Liverpool squad rated in a contest that demanded more.

Alisson Becker (6.5): The Brazilian shot-stopper made several crucial saves to keep Liverpool in the tie for as long as possible. He could do little about either of Dembélé's well-taken finishes, remaining a reliable last line in a difficult team performance.

Jeremie Frimpong (5.5): It was a tough night for the wing-back. He was occasionally careless in possession and, despite his usual attacking instincts, struggled to provide a consistent outlet or threatening delivery from the right flank.

Ibrahima Konaté (6.5): For large stretches, Konaté was a rock, repelling PSG attacks with strength and composure. However, like the rest of the back line, he began to wilt under sustained pressure as the game wore on and the visitors turned the screw.

Virgil van Dijk (6.0): The captain marshaled the defense adequately but faced a relentless challenge in containing the lively Dembélé. Uncharacteristically, he was also wasteful with some promising opportunities from set-pieces, missing a chance to change the game's complexion.

Milos Kerkez (7.0): A bright spark on an otherwise dim night. The left-back displayed tremendous tenacity, pressing aggressively and driving forward with purpose. His energetic forays into the PSG half were one of Liverpool's most positive attacking features.

Dominik Szoboszlai (6.5): The midfielder's engine was never in question, covering ground tirelessly in the center of the park. His final product, however, let him down, with several promising crosses failing to find their intended target.

Alexis Mac Allister (6.5): Orchestrated Liverpool's possession with his typical intelligence and crisp passing. His influence was slightly undermined by a tendency to go down too easily in the box, looking for a penalty rather than crafting a clear chance.

Harvey Elliott (6.0): Showed glimpses of his dribbling ability with a few driving runs, but the end product was missing. He failed to truly test the PSG goalkeeper with his efforts from distance.

Florian Wirtz (6.0): Grew into the game after a quiet start, finding pockets of space and linking play. Yet, the German playmaker never truly threatened to unlock the defense or unleash a decisive shot on goal.

Mohamed Salah (5.5): A surprisingly quiet evening for the Egyptian king. He was largely isolated and ineffective, struggling to impose himself on the game before being substituted at the interval.

Hugo Ekitike (6.0): The young striker made a lively and physical start, causing problems for the PSG defenders. His night was cruelly cut short, however, by an injury that forced him off after just 30 minutes.

Substitutes:

Cody Gakpo (6.0): Introduced at halftime, Gakpo worked hard and created a couple of half-chances for teammates, but he too couldn't find the clinical touch needed to spark a comeback.

Joe Gomez (6.5): Brought on to shore up the defense, Gomez provided solidity and strength, performing his defensive duties reliably during the final stages.
