Big news out of Lexington: the Kentucky Wildcats have officially signed Ajsa Sivka, the talented guard who was selected as the No. 10 overall pick by the Chicago Sky in the 2025 WNBA Draft. The announcement came Wednesday, marking a major addition to the Wildcats' roster.
Sivka, a 6-foot-4 guard, initially chose to delay her WNBA debut to finish high school in Europe and represent the Slovenian national team at the 2025 FIBA Women's European Basketball Championship. Now, she's bringing her international experience to college basketball.
"I am delighted to welcome Ajsa to our program," said Wildcats women's basketball coach Kenny Brooks in a statement. "Her combination of size and skill will fit into our system seamlessly. Ajsa is a tremendous shooter, scorer and playmaker from the wing position, and she will add experience to our team. Big Blue Nation, let's welcome Ajsa to our family!"
Sivka has already shown her potential on the big stage, averaging 7.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game over three appearances at the EuroBasket Women's Championship. She joins a Kentucky squad that went 25-11 last season and made a Sweet 16 appearance in the 2026 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament before falling to the Texas Longhorns.
Meanwhile, the Sky have been busy reshaping their roster. In the 2025 draft, they selected guard Hailey Van Lith (No. 11), forward Maddy Westbeld, and guard Aicha Coulibaly in the second round—though all three were waived on Monday. More recently, the Sky picked UCLA forward Gabriela Jaquez in the first round of the 2026 WNBA Draft, followed by Ole Miss forward Latasha Lattimore in the second round and Kentucky guard Tonie Morgan in the third.
After tying the Dallas Wings for the worst record in the WNBA last season (10-34), the Sky are looking to turn things around. They'll tip off their regular season on Saturday at 9 p.m. EDT against the Portland Fire in Portland, Oregon.
