Denzel Aberdeen started 35 games with the Wildcats after winning a national title at Florida last year, but he's now back in the transfer portal.

In a move that shakes up the Kentucky backcourt, starting guard Denzel Aberdeen has re-entered the NCAA transfer portal after just one season in Lexington. This marks the second consecutive offseason Aberdeen has sought a new home, following his transfer from the Florida Gators last year.

Aberdeen arrived at Kentucky with a championship pedigree, having been a key rotational piece for Florida's national title team. He secured a starting role with the Wildcats, appearing in 35 games and posting career-best averages of 13.5 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per contest. Despite his solid individual production, Kentucky's season ended earlier than hoped with a Round of 32 exit in the NCAA Tournament.

Now, the experienced guard faces a pivotal career decision. As a player who has already utilized four seasons of eligibility, Aberdeen will need a waiver from the NCAA to play a fifth and final season in the 2025-26 campaign. His quest for that waiver is tied to limited playing time during his freshman year at Florida, where he appeared in only 12 games.

This development opens a significant roster spot for Coach Mark Calipari and creates immediate intrigue in the transfer portal market. For Aberdeen, it represents a search for the right fit to cap off a collegiate journey that has now taken him from a national champion to a blue-blood program, and soon, to a third destination.
