Big Blue Nation is facing a significant shakeup as reports indicate guard Collin Chandler has entered the NCAA transfer portal. This move comes after two seasons in Lexington, where Chandler developed into a key piece for the Wildcats.
Chandler, a 6-foot-5 guard, was Coach Mark Pope's inaugural commitment at Kentucky. After a limited role on a senior-heavy team as a freshman, he blossomed into a vital starter and premier shooter last season. He led the team in three-pointers made (73) and accuracy, hitting an impressive 41% from beyond the arc while averaging 9.7 points per game.
His game was far more than just shooting, however. Chandler was a certified highlight reel, winning the team's dunk contest at Big Blue Madness two years running. His explosive one-handed slam over a Nicholls defender even claimed the top spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays last November, showcasing the athleticism that makes him a coveted transfer.
Chandler's career-best performance came in a February win over Vanderbilt, where he dropped 23 points, sinking six three-pointers. His departure leaves a notable void on the perimeter for a Kentucky squad looking to build on its foundation.
This potential transfer marks another chapter in a unique journey. Chandler originally committed to Pope at BYU out of high school, undertook a two-year mission, and then followed Pope to Kentucky in 2024. Now, as he prepares for his junior season, the basketball world watches to see where this talented guard will take his high-flying act next.
