Despite both general manager Joe Schoen and head coach John Harbaugh saying on Thursday night that the New York Giants did not intend to trade Kayvon Thibodeaux after selecting Arvell Reese No. 5 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, reports that they were considering doing do broke shortly before Friday’s second round began.
Schoen adamantly denied those Friday while speaking to media following the second-round selection of cornerback Colton Hood.
“We have not had any conversations about Kayvon Thibodeaux today,” Schoen said. “That’s not true.”
The Friday report from Jordan Schultz had suggested the Giants were discussing a trade with the New Orleans Saintsw.
Thibodeaux himself had fed into the rumors by posting this on Instagram:

There has been chatter about the possibility of the Giants trading Thibodeaux ever since the Giants selected Abdul Carter No. 3 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. The selection of Reese brought that chatter back to the forefront.
Thibodeaux will play the 2026 season on his fifth-year option. He can be a free agent next offseason.
