Louisville basketball has landed a significant commitment, bringing a familiar name back into the fold. Karter Knox, the highly-touted wing originally recruited by the Cardinals out of high school, has announced he will join Pat Kelsey's program via the NCAA transfer portal.

Knox, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, spent the last two seasons at Arkansas playing for John Calipari. His tenure with the Razorbacks was hampered by injury, as a meniscus procedure in his left knee sidelined him for the final 12 games of the 2025-26 campaign. Despite the setback, he showed flashes of his potential, averaging 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting a respectable 37.7% from beyond the arc.

His standout performance came in a December win over then-No. 16 Texas Tech, where he erupted for a season-high 20 points, six rebounds, and two blocks. After that game, Calipari praised Knox's ability, noting he had been working to free the young player from the weight of external expectations.

The connection to Louisville runs deep. Knox's oldest brother, Kevin Knox Jr., played for Calipari at Kentucky before becoming an NBA lottery pick. Furthermore, former Louisville coach Kenny Payne, who also coached Kevin in the NBA, heavily recruited Karter before his dismissal. Knox initially committed to Kentucky and followed Calipari to Arkansas, but now finds his way to the Cardinals as a key piece for Pat Kelsey's third season.

Ranked among the top 60 players in the transfer portal by 247Sports, Knox brings two years of SEC experience and a versatile scoring touch to a Louisville team looking to make a statement. His commitment is a major win for Kelsey's staff as they continue to build their roster, with the transfer portal remaining open for new additions.
