Louisville basketball has landed a significant commitment, as former five-star recruit Karter Knox has announced he will join Pat Kelsey's Cardinals via the NCAA transfer portal. This move brings a familiar target to Louisville, as Knox was heavily recruited by the program out of high school under former coach Kenny Payne.
Knox, a 6-foot-6 wing, spent his first two collegiate seasons at Arkansas playing for John Calipari. His sophomore campaign was hampered by injury, limiting him to just 22 minutes per game. Despite the setbacks, he showed flashes of his high-level potential, most notably dropping a season-high 20 points with six rebounds in a December win over then-No. 16 Texas Tech.
His connection to the Louisville program runs deep. His oldest brother, Kevin Knox Jr., was a one-and-done star at Kentucky and a lottery pick. Furthermore, Kenny Payne, who recruited Knox to Louisville initially, coached both Knox brothers—Kevin in the NBA with the New York Knicks and Karter during his time at Arkansas.
For Coach Pat Kelsey, securing a player of Knox's pedigree is a major win in the portal. Ranked among the top 60 transfers this offseason, Knox brings size, shooting ability (career 36% from three), and athleticism to a Cardinals team looking to build momentum. His commitment signals that Louisville remains a destination for top talent, ready to compete in the ACC.
