WingedC in hot water after absurd Karate Combat stunt

Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi didn't mince words when reacting to the bizarre stunt pulled by "WingedC" during Saturday's event in Miami—calling it "so stupid" and a major threat to fighter safety and the promotion's future.

The incident unfolded at the KC Apex when WingedC, also known as Malcolm Schuyler, a one-time Karate Combat veteran, entered the pit disguised as a blind man during a light heavyweight clash between former UFC fighters Claudio Ribeiro and Curtis Millender. The referee was forced to halt the fight until security removed Schuyler from the area.

Zaidi expressed his frustration in an interview with MMA Fighting, revealing that WingedC called him afterward to apologize. "Bro, you don't even know how bad you did," Zaidi said. "It's bad for so many reasons. No. 1, fighter safety. It's horrible. But No. 2, my personal reason—I signed a lease. We have our own Apex now. I signed the lease on Wednesday, 48 hours before the show, for nine years."

The president explained the potential fallout: "You jump in my pit. What if the commission says, 'Hey, we're taking away your promoter license.' Now I'm stuck with this stupid warehouse I'll have to pay all this money for nine years." WingedC reportedly replied, "Oh, I didn't think of that," to which Zaidi fired back, "Of course you didn't. You have to think it's not just about you getting views. It's about the health of the fighters and the business. How are you going to make the promotion look? I hired you to do fun things, but now people think I hired you for something stupid like this? Are you crazy?"

WingedC acknowledged his mistake and asked if he was fired. Zaidi's response was blunt: "Bro, right now you're fired. I don't wanna talk about this. I would never ask a crazy guy like that to jump into the pit. Not only for fighter safety, but also for me. If I lose my promoter license and I signed this lease for nine years, my Apex—are you kidding me? It's so stupid. It's crazy."

In a separate twist, WingedC later claimed on social media that he was assaulted by Millender at the fighter hotel later that night. Millender had lost his Karate Combat 61 match by TKO to Ribeiro earlier in the evening.
