The Kansas Jayhawks are back in the transfer portal market, and this time their sights are set on a high-scoring guard who could immediately bolster their perimeter attack. After last year's successful acquisition of Melvin Council Jr., Bill Self's program is reportedly a key contender for VCU standout Terrence Hill Jr., a sharpshooter who averaged 15.7 points per game this past season.

Hill, a 6-foot-3 guard, used a strong March performance to launch himself into the high-major conversation. His shooting credentials are elite; he drilled 41% of his catch-and-shoot threes and finished at an impressive 63% rate at the rim. As noted by CBS Sports' Isaac Trotter, Hill "has real game," showcasing an ability to create off the dribble while playing clean, efficient basketball—he had two or fewer turnovers in 30 of his 36 games for a VCU team that reached the NCAA Tournament's Round of 32.

With Bill Self confirmed to return as head coach, Kansas faces the crucial task of replacing backcourt production. Melvin Council Jr. is gone, and star freshman Darryn Peterson is widely expected to head to the NBA. Securing a proven, high-volume scorer like Hill would be a major step in reloading for another national title chase, helping to offset the earlier portal loss of center Flory Bidunga to Louisville.

Landing a player of Hill's caliber is never simple in a competitive portal landscape, but for a program with championship expectations, this is the caliber of move that keeps Kansas among the nation's elite. His blend of scoring and efficiency would be a perfect fit in Lawrence, providing the Jayhawks with a dynamic offensive weapon for the upcoming season.
