Juventus CEO Damien Comolli has promised an ambitious summer transfer window, declaring the club's project remains attractive to top players regardless of Champions League qualification. However, the early stages of their recruitment drive are proving challenging, with the Bianconeri reportedly trailing in negotiations for several high-profile free-agent targets.

The club's strategy appears focused on securing experienced talent without transfer fees, but the financial demands are steep. Juventus, along with rivals AC Milan, are interested in Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski, but face significant hurdles. The Polish striker would need to accept a major salary reduction to join Serie A, with more lucrative offers likely from Saudi Arabia or MLS.

Further complicating matters, midfield target Leon Goretzka is said to be requesting around €7 million per season plus a substantial signing bonus. The pursuit of Manchester City's creative force Bernardo Silva also seems difficult, as the Portuguese star reportedly prefers a move to Spain or a warmer climate over a switch to Turin, despite Juventus's interest.

The defensive rebuild presents similar obstacles. While linked with Feyenoord's Marcos Senesi, Juventus reportedly views him as a potential replacement for Lloyd Kelly rather than a defensive cornerstone. A more ambitious target like Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger, pushed for by coach Luciano Spalletti, would also require the German defender to take a pay cut from his €10 million annual salary.

This window highlights a modern transfer dilemma: securing free agents is rarely free. While avoiding massive transfer fees, Juventus must navigate hefty wage and bonus demands. Successfully landing even a couple of these targets is seen as crucial, as it would free up financial resources for other key acquisitions in what promises to be a pivotal summer for the Old Lady.
