After a rare rough patch, the Los Angeles Dodgers got back on track in style, thanks to a masterful performance from rookie pitcher Justin Wrobleski. The left-hander tossed six scoreless innings to lead the Dodgers to a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, snapping a four-game losing streak.
Wrobleski, who improved to 5-0 on the season, was in complete control from the first pitch. He scattered six hits and issued just one walk, keeping the Cardinals' lineup off balance all afternoon. Tanner Scott closed the door with a perfect ninth inning to earn his second save of the year.
The Dodgers' offense provided early support, striking in the second inning. Andy Pages launched an RBI double to left field, and Hyeseong Kim followed with an RBI single to right, staking Los Angeles to a 2-0 lead. Freddie Freeman added a clutch two-out RBI single up the middle in the fifth inning to push the advantage to 3-0.
On the other side, former Dodger Dustin May faced his old team for the first time since being traded to Boston in July 2025. May (3-3) allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings in a solid but ultimately losing effort.
The Cardinals, who had won six straight games heading into Sunday, finally got on the board in the eighth inning. Alec Burleson lined a single up the middle off reliever Will Klein to drive in Jordan Walker for his team-leading 28th RBI of the season.
It was a quiet day at the plate for Shohei Ohtani, who went 0-for-3 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning. The slump marks his longest hitless streak since a five-game drought back in May 2022 with the Angels.
Looking ahead, the Dodgers will open a three-game series in Houston on Monday, with right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (2-2, 2.87 ERA) taking the mound. The Cardinals, meanwhile, will host Milwaukee, sending righty Kyle Leahy (3-3, 5.52 ERA) to the bump against Brewers right-hander Chad Patrick (2-1, 2.57 ERA).
