Junior Caminero hit a solo homer over the Green Monster, Nick Martinez pitched one-run ball into the sixth inning and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 4-1 on Sunday to win the rain-shortened series. Tampa Bay won for the 14th time in 16 games after their seven-game winning streak was stopped Friday. The Rays gave up three or fewer runs for a franchise-record 16th straight game, the first team to accomplish the feat since 2010 San Francisco Giants did it in 18 straight. Pitching two years and a day after his mother, Jina, died following a nearly eight-year battle with colon cancer, Boston starter Payton Tolle wore his pant legs near his knees showing his pink socks on Mother’s Day.

In a showdown that had all the drama of a classic rivalry, Junior Caminero launched a solo homer over the legendary Green Monster, leading the Tampa Bay Rays to a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. The win sealed the rain-shortened series for the Rays, who continue to ride a wave of dominance.

Tampa Bay has been on fire, winning 14 of their last 16 games after their seven-game winning streak was snapped on Friday. What's even more impressive? The Rays have held opponents to three or fewer runs for a franchise-record 16 straight games—a feat not seen since the 2010 San Francisco Giants managed it over 18 consecutive contests. This pitching staff is writing its own chapter in baseball history.

Nick Martinez was the star on the mound, delivering one-run ball over 5⅔ innings. He allowed seven hits and struck out four, improving to 4-1 on the season. Bryan Baker closed the door in the ninth, earning his 10th save despite a tense finish with two runners aboard.

But the day carried extra emotion for Boston starter Payton Tolle. Pitching two years and a day after his mother, Jina, lost her nearly eight-year battle with colon cancer, Tolle took the mound on Mother's Day with his pant legs rolled up, proudly displaying pink socks. He walked out to Danzig's "Mother," a poignant tribute that resonated throughout Fenway Park. Tolle (1-2) allowed three runs over five innings, with seven hits and four strikeouts.

The Rays struck early, with Caminero sending a curveball into the last row of the Monster seats in the first inning for his 11th homer of the season. Ben Williamson added an RBI single in the third to make it 3-0, and Cedric Mullins' safety squeeze pushed the lead to 4-0 in the sixth.

For Boston, first baseman Willson Contreras exited the game with a bruised right hand after being hit by a fastball—a tough break for a team already searching for consistency.

Looking ahead, the Rays will send RHP Drew Rasmussen (2-1, 2.95 ERA) to the mound for Monday's series opener in Toronto against RHP Kevin Gausman (2-2, 3.09). The Red Sox have yet to announce a starter for Tuesday's matchup against Philadelphia.
