The motorsport community is mourning the loss of Finnish driver Juha Miettinen, who tragically passed away following a multi-car accident during the ADAC 24h Nürburgring Qualifiers on Saturday, April 18. The 66-year-old was competing for a spot in the legendary Nürburgring 24 Hours, one of the world's most grueling endurance races held on the treacherous 13-mile Nordschleife circuit.

The incident, a serious seven-car collision in the early stages of the first qualifying race, brought an immediate halt to the session. Race control deployed a red flag to allow for extensive rescue operations. Despite the swift response of emergency crews, Miettinen, driving the #121 BMW 325i, succumbed to his injuries at the track's Medical Centre after all resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.

In a statement honoring Miettinen, race organizers confirmed the six other drivers involved were transported for medical evaluation, with none reported to be in life-threatening condition. As a mark of respect, a minute of silence will be observed ahead of Sunday's scheduled events, and the remainder of the qualifying program was suspended and ultimately cancelled.
