Liverpool's summer transfer plans are heating up, and according to a trusted journalist, a 13-goal forward has emerged as the club's top priority. In a detailed discussion on Anfield Index's Media Matters, Dave Davis and David Lynch explored the Reds' attacking targets, with the conversation quickly turning to the future of Liverpool's forward line.

Davis highlighted two key names on the radar: RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola. Diomande, who has netted 13 goals across all competitions this season, has been a consistent topic in transfer chatter. "It's always been Diomande every week," Davis noted, though he added that the buzz around the Leipzig star has "seemed to reduce" as Barcola is "mentioned more and more frequently."

When asked about the likelihood of either winger joining Liverpool, Lynch put the chances "quite highly," rating them a seven or eight out of ten. However, he flagged a potential twist: Paris Saint-Germain's interest in Diomande could shake things up. "PSG's interest in Diomande just feels like a factor here," Lynch said, while admitting he had no inside scoop on the French club's plans. "If they do go for him, it clearly opens up the possibility of Barcola leaving."

That scenario puts Liverpool in a strategic spot. Lynch confirmed the club "do like both of them," but he firmly placed Diomande at the top of the wishlist. "To me, he probably looks like the premier winger that's on the market this summer and would maybe be top of Liverpool's list," he explained.

The timing of this transfer talk adds extra weight, especially with Mohamed Salah's future still uncertain. Lynch spoke with clear admiration for the Egyptian, calling him an "unbelievable footballer" and describing it as "a privilege to watch him play down the years." As Liverpool gears up for a summer of change under Arne Slot, the pursuit of a dynamic winger like Diomande could signal a new era for the Reds' attack.
