Jordyn Tyson has already come down with an injury after his first practice with the New Orleans Saints.

Jordyn Tyson's journey in the NFL has hit an early speed bump. The New Orleans Saints wide receiver, widely regarded as the top talent at his position in the 2026 NFL Draft, has already suffered an injury after just one practice with his new team.

Tyson was selected with the No. 8 overall pick, but questions about his durability loomed large during the pre-draft process. Many analysts believed his injury history in college—rather than his on-field ability—was the reason the Tennessee Titans passed on him for Carnell Tate at No. 4. Now, those concerns are already coming to the forefront.

According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Tyson was absent from Day 2 of Saints rookie minicamp due to what the team described as a "minor injury." The specifics remain unclear, but the timing couldn't be worse for a player trying to shed the injury-prone label.

"Jordyn Tyson did not practice today. Source said it was due to minor injury," Underhill reported on Saturday.

While injuries are an unfortunate part of the game, seeing a player get hurt during what is typically a lighter practice session is troubling. For Tyson, this is the latest chapter in a long history of health setbacks. He suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in 2022, which limited him to just three games and zero catches in 2023. In 2024, a broken collarbone forced him to miss the final two games of the season. Then, in 2025, hamstring strains in both legs sidelined him for the last three games and hampered his pre-draft workouts.

Despite these challenges, the Saints have high expectations for Tyson. He's slated to be the No. 2 wide receiver behind Chris Olave, playing a critical role in the development of second-year quarterback Tyler Shough. Shough showed significant promise late last season, and the team is counting on Tyson to be a reliable target from Day 1.

For a franchise that can ill-afford to have its top rookie miss time, every practice—and every snap—matters. Tyson's ability to stay on the field will be key not only to his own success but to the Saints' offensive plans for 2026. As the season approaches, all eyes will be on how quickly he can bounce back and put these injury concerns to rest.
