Jordan Walker homered for the third consecutive game, Michael McGreevy earned his first victory of the season, and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Washington Nationals 6-1 on Wednesday. Alec Burleson had three hits and drove in three runs for St. Louis, which won two of three against the Nationals and finished 3-3 on a road trip that began in Detroit. Miles Mikolas, who made two All-Star appearances while pitching for St. Louis from 2018-25, surrendered two runs in three innings in his first outing against the Cardinals as Washington lost for the seventh time in eight games.

Jordan Walker is officially on a heater. The young Cardinals outfielder launched a home run for the third straight game, powering St. Louis to a decisive 6-1 victory over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. This impressive power surge is a major development for Walker, who has already smashed five homers in just 12 games this season after hitting only six all of last year.

While Walker provided the pop, rookie pitcher Michael McGreevy delivered a masterclass on the mound to secure his first win of 2026. McGreevy was in complete control, allowing just one run over six strong innings and retiring the final 11 batters he faced. His performance lowered his ERA to an impressive 2.16 and gave the Cardinals' rotation a huge boost.

The offensive support was widespread. Alec Burleson led the charge with three hits and three RBIs, including a key two-run single off former Cardinal Miles Mikolas. Mikolas, making his first start against his old team, struggled with command and took the loss for a Nationals squad that has now dropped seven of its last eight games.

With this series win, the Cardinals finished a challenging road trip with a .500 record (3-3). They'll look to carry this momentum home to Busch Stadium, where they open a weekend series against the Boston Red Sox on Friday.
