Jon Jones even gets competitive about matchups that exist only in fantasy.

The former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion doesn’t have a clear path forward right now, especially after his request for a final fight at the White House was turned down.

Jones recently walked back another retirement hint, suggesting he’s still open to a farewell appearance in the UFC. But with the rise of Real American Freestyle gaining steam, there may be other opportunities outside the promotion.

Lesnar, much like Jones, held the UFC heavyweight title during his fighting days. He recently appeared to step away from professional wrestling as well, having made his final appearance at WrestleMania 42.

After leaving MMA, Lesnar went back to WWE and built a successful career there too, helped by his background as an NCAA Division I national champion.

At 48 years old, Lesnar’s size and wrestling skills led Kamaru Usman to give him the edge over Jones in a fantasy matchup.

“This is an outrageous question…who would win? Hypothetically, I would say the sheer size of Brock Lesnar and the way he wrestled,” Usman said on his Pound 4 Pound podcast.

“Brock Lesnar wasn’t necessarily a guy ripping shots all the time, but he could wear guys down… Brock would be a bit more offensive, and trying to get a guy of that size down multiple times? I just don’t see it.

“I think Brock Lesnar potentially [beats Jones],” he added.

It didn’t take long for Jon Jones to respond after hearing those comments.

@Usman84KG I’m getting my hand raised against you and Brock in the same night (angry emoji),” he wrote while sharing a clip from that podcast on his Instagram Stories.

Jon Jones has never been shy about his confidence, and he made that clear again when talk turned to a hypothetical match-up with Brock Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar, who held the UFC heavyweight title during his MMA run, appeared to step away from professional wrestling after WrestleMania 42. Following his time in the cage, Lesnar returned to WWE and built a successful career there, drawing on his experience as an NCAA Division I wrestling champion in 2000.

Kamaru Usman weighed in on the idea of a Jon Jones vs. Brock Lesnar match-up during his Pound 4 Pound podcast.

“This is an outrageous question…who would win? Hypothetically, I would say the sheer size of Brock Lesnar and the way he wrestled,” Usman said. “Brock Lesnar wasn’t necessarily a guy ripping shots all the time, but he could wear guys down…Brock would be a bit more offensive, and trying to get a guy of that size down multiple times? I just don’t see it.”
