John Daly, the beloved two-time major winner and fan favorite, has withdrawn from the Insperity Invitational on the PGA Tour Champions after just three holes on Friday.

The 60-year-old golf icon, known for his colorful personality and powerful swing, pulled out of the tournament at The Woodlands Country Club near Houston, citing ongoing injury struggles that have plagued him in recent years on the senior circuit. This marks his fifth start of the season, with his best finish being a T-21 at the Hoag Classic. He also missed the cut at the Senior PGA Championship and finished 71st at the Regions Tradition.

For Daly, this tournament holds special significance—he won the Insperity Invitational in 2017, which remains his lone victory on the Champions Tour. His early exit is a disappointing turn for fans who have long admired his grit and charisma on the course.

Meanwhile, the tournament saw some bright spots elsewhere. Sweden's Robert Karlsson, currently T-11, aced the par-3 14th hole, while rookie Ben Crane got off to a blazing start, birdying six of his first 10 holes to fire an opening 7-under 65.
