Now at the 2026 NBA Draft Combine, John Blackwell has to decide between returning to school or entering his name into the draft.

The 2026 NBA Draft Combine has arrived, and for Duke's newest commit, John Blackwell, it's a time of high-stakes decision-making. After losing stars Cameron Boozer and Isaiah Evans to the draft, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer landed a major win by securing a commitment from the former Wisconsin guard. But here's the twist: that commitment isn't set in stone.

Blackwell, who put up impressive numbers for the Badgers last season—averaging 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game—is currently working out at the combine. The feedback he receives from NBA teams could determine whether he suits up for the Blue Devils or takes his talents to the professional level.

In a recent interview with college basketball analyst Andy Katz, Blackwell opened up about the weight of his decision. "It's up in the air right now," he shared on Monday. "I'm just trusting God through the process. I would love to play for a prestigious college like Duke. But I'm just chasing my dreams right now, weighing what's best for me."

Blackwell also praised the support he's received from Scheyer and the Duke coaching staff. "Coach Scheyer's been helpful through the process, and the whole coaching staff at Duke has been helpful through the process. In my opinion, it's a win-win situation with both options because I either get to play at the best college in the country or live out my dreams and play in the NBA."

For Duke fans, losing Blackwell would be a tough pill to swallow, but he's not the only player in this position. The Blue Devils have also been linked to Allen Graves and Milan Momcilovic this offseason, both of whom are testing the draft waters. As the combine unfolds, all eyes are on Blackwell—and whether his next move will be to Durham or the NBA.
