Joel Embiid returned to the Sixers lineup Sunday, and the result wasn’t what fans were hoping for as the Celtics blew out Philadelphia to take a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Embiid scored 26 points and 10 rebounds, but the Celtics won 128-96.
It was the first game Embiid was able to suit up for this postseason after an emergency appendectomy. But it certainly wasn’t the first time Embiid has missed time.
His entire career has been plagued by nagging injuries that have not only cost him games, has cost the Sixers at ever having their best lineup healthy and available for the postseason.

Joel Embiid returned to the lineup in Game 4. Game 5 is tomorrow, and Embiid is expected to play. He’ll need to be big, the Sixers are one game away from elimination.
Joel Embiid is signed through the 2028-2029 season. He signed a three year, $192.9 million extension that starts next year.
