Joe Scally, the promising Borussia Mönchengladbach and United States defender, has hinted that his future may lie away from the Bundesliga—but fans will have to wait until after this summer's World Cup for a final decision.

The 23-year-old full-back, who has called Borussia-Park home for the past five and a half years, is entering the final year of his contract and openly admits he's thinking about what comes next. Speaking during a virtual media round table on Tuesday, Scally didn't shy away from addressing the speculation.

"I've been here for a long time. I love the club, but it's no secret that I would love to experience something different at some point in my career," Scally told Bulinews.com. "Every player has their wishes and what they want to do."

Recent reports from German outlet Rheinische Post suggested Scally is dreaming of a move to the English Premier League, and the defender's comments only fueled that fire. For now, though, his focus is firmly on representing the USMNT at the World Cup this summer.

"It will be an exciting summer with the World Cup, and that's where my focus is now. Then we'll see after that," he added.

Scally's journey from New York City FC to Germany in January 2021 has been nothing short of impressive. Last month, at just 23 years and 116 days old, he became the youngest non-German player to reach 150 Bundesliga appearances—a milestone that speaks volumes about his consistency and maturity on the pitch.

As the summer transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Scally's next move. Whether he stays in the Bundesliga or trades the black and white of Gladbach for the bright lights of the Premier League, one thing is certain: this is a player ready to write the next chapter of his career.
