The New York Jets wrapped up their rookie minicamp over the weekend, giving the coaching staff a first look at the team's newest draft picks and undrafted free agents. But the camp wasn't just for those already on the roster—30 additional players participated as tryouts, hoping to earn a spot. While most were undrafted rookies, a few veterans also took the field, and two of those tryout players impressed enough to land contracts.
One of the new signings is veteran offensive lineman Landon Young, who spent the last four seasons with the New Orleans Saints. A former sixth-round pick out of Kentucky in 2021, Young stands at 6-foot-7 and 321 pounds, bringing a powerful presence to the line. He appeared in 17 games for the Saints in 2024, making four starts at right guard and one at left guard. Over his five-year career, Young has played in 56 games with 12 starts, showing versatility and experience that could prove valuable for the Jets' offensive depth.
The other signing is linebacker Kaden Keller, a product of Virginia Tech. Keller, who measures 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, played in 11 games with six starts last season, ranking third on the Hokies with 50 tackles. In 2024, he appeared in 13 games with seven starts, tallying 83 tackles. Across 52 career games at Virginia Tech, Keller amassed 181 tackles (78 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
Both players face an uphill climb to make the Jets' 53-man roster, but their performances during a short weekend camp were enough to catch the coaching staff's attention. For fans looking to gear up like their favorite Jets prospects, staying tuned to training camp battles is a great way to spot the next underdog story.
