The New York Jets have added some much-needed depth to their offensive line, signing veteran tackle Landon Young after an impressive showing at this weekend's rookie minicamp.
Young, a 28-year-old Kentucky product, was among 31 tryout players competing for a roster spot. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-7 and 321 pounds, he brings a blend of size and experience to the Jets' front five. The former sixth-round pick (2021 NFL Draft) spent his first four seasons with the New Orleans Saints, appearing in 56 games with 12 starts. In his final year with the Saints, he showed his versatility by starting four games at right guard and one at left guard.
To make room on the roster, New York waived wide receiver Mac Dalena. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Fresno State alum originally signed with the Jets in January on a reserve/futures contract after a brief stint on the Seattle Seahawks practice squad last season.
For Jets fans, this signing is a classic low-risk, high-reward move—bringing in a seasoned lineman who can compete for a backup role and provide insurance across multiple positions. As the team continues to build its identity, adding players like Young who have starting experience is a smart way to bolster the trenches.
