Manchester United are making moves to bolster their attacking options this summer, and their latest target might surprise you. While the Red Devils have been linked with high-profile wide forwards like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, both have struggled to consistently provide natural width this season. Instead, United's recruitment team appears to be focusing on a younger, more dynamic option.
According to talkSPORT, Manchester United have held formal talks with Leicester City over the signing of teenage winger Jeremy Monga. The 16-year-old has already made history at the King Power Stadium, becoming Leicester's youngest-ever Premier League player at just 15 years and 271 days old last season. Monga went on to make 27 appearances in the Championship, recording a goal and two assists—a remarkable feat for a player his age.
However, with Leicester facing relegation to England's third tier, the vultures are circling. As many as ten top clubs from the Premier League and beyond are reportedly interested in snaring Monga for a bargain fee. United, though, seem determined to lead the chase, with director of football Jason Wilcox already meeting with Leicester officials to push the deal forward.
Monga has drawn high praise from former Leicester boss Ruud van Nistelrooy, who called him "a great winger with speed" and "a fantastic talent." The Dutchman added, "He deserved these minutes, and hopefully, more to come."
United are also keeping tabs on another attacking teenager: Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi. The 19-year-old Frenchman has caught the eye with 12 Premier League goals this season and is reportedly wanted by both United and Arsenal. However, Bournemouth are determined to hold onto their rising star for at least one more season.
For now, all eyes are on Monga, as United look to secure a future star who could bring genuine width and flair to Old Trafford.
