When Manchester United and Sunderland played out a forgettable goalless draw at the Stadium of Light, the Red Devils' lack of attacking spark was painfully clear. With just two shots on target, it was a match that highlighted exactly why United are already planning for next season.

While the stalemate won't impact Michael Carrick's side's final position, it's clear that reinforcements are needed. United are looking to add both established stars and promising young talent, and one name that keeps emerging is Leicester City's teenage sensation Jeremy Monga.

The 16-year-old winger made history last season when he became Leicester's youngest-ever Premier League player at just 15 years and 271 days old. Interestingly, it was United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy who handed Monga his senior debut during his time as Leicester boss. Van Nistelrooy was quick to praise the youngster, calling him "a fantastic talent" with "great speed" who "deserved these minutes."

Now, according to reports from the Daily Mirror via Leicester Mercury, United's director of football Jason Wilcox has already held talks with Leicester officials about a potential summer move for the electric winger. United are believed to be leading the race for Monga's signature.

Monga impressed throughout last season, making 30 appearances across all competitions while showcasing sharp movement and astute decision-making in the final third. He signed a new deal last summer that will convert to a professional contract when he turns 17 in July. However, with Leicester heading to League One, the England U19 international may be looking for a new challenge.

Leicester could reportedly receive close to £6 million for their young star—a fee that would be the highest the club has ever received for a teenager. For United, adding a player of Monga's potential alongside a first-team ready winger—with Aston Villa's talent also on their radar—could be the perfect recipe for a more exciting attack next season.
