In a significant move for the transfer portal, UConn Huskies forward Jaylin Stewart has announced he will spend his final season of eligibility elsewhere. Stewart, a key contributor to the program's 2024 national championship run, departs Storrs after three seasons.

The 6'7" junior provided valuable versatility for the Huskies this past season, averaging 4.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. His role evolved throughout the year; he started 10 games before a knee injury sidelined him for eight contests, including the NCAA Tournament's opening weekend. He fought back to provide crucial bench minutes during the tournament's final two weekends, including a three-point contribution in seven minutes during the Final Four victory over Illinois.

Stewart's game is defined by defensive flexibility and instant offense. His size allowed him to guard multiple positions, making him a staple in many of UConn's most efficient lineups. Offensively, he possessed a "microwave" scoring ability, capable of heating up quickly in transition and carrying the offense in short bursts.

With the emergence of freshman Braylon Mullins, Stewart's starting spot became less certain. Now, as a graduate transfer, he enters the portal seeking a starting role and more consistent minutes to showcase his skills. After turning down transfer opportunities last year to chase another title with UConn, Stewart is expected to be a highly sought-after commodity with numerous high-major programs vying for his services for one final collegiate campaign.
