On Tuesday, April 28, the Boston Celtics fell to a 113-97 defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers. The loss ensured the Sixers' postseason dreams stay alive, as they forced a game six back at home in front of their own fans. Boston had started the game relatively well, but unfortunately, a second-half shooting slump, which saw the Celtics register just 40 points in the final 24 minutes, ultimately secured their fate.
During his postgame news conference, All-Star forward Jaylen Brown discussed the need for Boston to make adjustments heading into game six. The Celtics had been physically outmatched during the loss, leading Brown to note that Boston must do a better job at owning their space.
“Yeah, I mean, I definitely want to go back and look at it, you know," Brown said. "But just owning our space was just not good enough overall from the Celtics tonight. So, you know, the result was the result, but got to move on and play in another couple days and get a chance to respond. So look at it, learn from it, and move forward.”
The Celtics rarely have two bad games back-to-back. As such, it's unlikely that we're going to see another poor shooting performance on Thursday, April 30, when they face the Sixers in a potential close-out game. Nevertheless, Boston must be willing to embrace the physical side of the game. After all, Philadelphia will be fighting to force a game seven, meaning a win isn't going to come easily.
