Jay Jay Wilson wasted no time calling his shot after delivering a stunning knockout at PFL Belfast. With the biggest win of his career secured, the New Zealand lightweight has already named his next target: Alfie Davis.
Wilson (12-2) silenced the home crowd at The SSE Arena, taking out Irish favorite Darragh Kelly (9-1) in just 37 seconds. Stepping in as a replacement headliner, Wilson stayed composed in the pocket, landed a sharp body kick, and immediately followed with a fight-ending left hook that sent Kelly to the canvas.
Now, with momentum firmly on his side, Wilson is looking up the rankings. He's setting his sights on Alfie Davis (20-6-1), a seasoned contender who challenged for the lightweight title just ten weeks ago. A decisive win over a name like Davis could be the final step to securing Wilson his own shot at PFL gold.
"I knew he was going to come out and grapple," Wilson told Dan Hardy post-fight. "My plan was to land some strikes, and I got to land the stuff I was training. I managed to catch him with the hook and win the fight." He then issued a direct challenge: "There's a little Alfie in this division who needs a beating. Alfie Davis, I'm coming for you in June in San Diego."
Wilson's callout is a bold move in the deep PFL lightweight division. With nine of his twelve wins coming by stoppage—six in the first round—he has proven knockout power. Davis represents a significant step up, having recently faced champion Usman Nurmagomedov and boasting wins over notable names like Clay Collard and Brent Primus. This potential clash promises high stakes and explosive action as both fighters look to cement their contender status.
