Jacksonville State made a statement Tuesday night, toppling No. 5 Auburn 4-1 in front of a roaring crowd of 1,926 fans at Jim Case Stadium—the second-largest home turnout in program history. The win wasn't just another notch on the belt; it marked the first time the Gamecocks swept the regular-season series against the Tigers, cementing their status as a force to be reckoned with.

The victory was powered by a pitching staff that has been the team's backbone all season. Starter Ryan Geraghty delivered a career-best performance, tossing 5⅔ scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing just three hits and a walk. He earned the win, setting the tone for a dominant night on the mound.

Jud Files followed with 1⅓ innings, surrendering one earned run on three hits and a walk. But the real drama came in the eighth inning when Files hit Auburn's Eric Guevara and walked Bub Terrell, loading the bases with no outs. Head coach Steve Bieser turned to Chase Horst, who calmly induced a flyout and a double play to escape the jam. Horst then retired the Tigers in order in the ninth to notch his first save of the season.

The Gamecocks' offense struck early, with Brady Thomas delivering a two-out RBI single to score Jaxon Pate in the first inning. The real breakthrough came in the fourth, when Jax State plated three runs. Trey Majette drove in Grayson Ashe with a sacrifice fly, Orlando Pena brought Thomas home on a fielder's choice bunt, and Pate drew a bases-loaded walk to push the lead to 4-0.

For a team that thrives on momentum, this win is a huge boost as they head into the final stretch. Jax State (41-11, 22-5 CUSA) closes the regular season with a three-game series at Dallas Baptist, starting Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by Friday's game at the same time and Saturday's finale at 2 p.m. If the pitching keeps this up, the postseason looks bright for the Gamecocks.
